It’s that time of year again; summer is quickly being replaced with autumn and the days are getting shorter by the week. Just as the kids are getting back into the swing of school, it’s time for the first half term break of the school year! Here’s our top picks for things to do and places to visit this upcoming half term:
Autumn Carnival Fun at RHS Wisley
RHS Wisley Gardens in Woking has a range of hands-on activities for children of all ages to enjoy this half term. The majority of the activities are included in the garden admission price; these include an Autumn Carnival garden trail, circus shows and family craft and planting workshops. The gardens are open from 10am to 4.30pm daily from 23 – 31 October, but activities and times vary so it’s important to check their website before visiting. All the information you need to plan your trip to the RHS Garden Wisley can be found here.
Little Amal – the giant puppet
Fancy checking out something truly unique this half term? An ambitious project by the Good Chance Theatre sees a giant puppet (3.5 metres tall), named Little Amal, walking 8,000km from the border of Turkey and Syria to Manchester. The purpose of Amal’s journey is to bring attention to the journeys made by child refugees in the hope of a better life. If you’re local to Reigate or live around Surrey, then your best bet for meeting Amal will be catching her as she passes through London from 22 – 25 October. She’s going to be part of music events, literature festivals, dance performances and more during her 4 days in the capital. Visit Timeout London’s website to see Little Amal’s full schedule for London.
